Instructional Design - (EDTC 6323)

Project Description: This project focuses on the research and development of an interactive course by showcasing the implementation of web-based tools as well as audiovisuals, so one may take full advantage of the design and implementation of a project-based learning style. Consequently, in this project, learners are expected to use technology as a medium to suit and engage them on issues and questions that are rich, real and relevant to their lives. For instance, in this project, the learner will demonstrate and understand the concept of visual aids by applying desktop publishing and presentation management technology. In asssessing their mastery of the concept, learners will research their community's environmental factors and create a multimedia presentation with the proper use of media, tone and tempo.

Long Term Technology Technology Plan - (EDTC 6342)

Project Description: For this artifact, the main focus was to evaluate and analyze various tools, like STaR Chart, for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of a technology plan for the Brownsville Early College High School. This was done in order to provide a positive support system for students, teachers, and campus and district administrators, specifically to meet the Long-Range Plan for Technology from 2006 to 2020 as is specified in the No Child Left Behind Act and District expectations. This Long Term Technology Plan focuses on four areas: Teaching and Learning; Educator Preparation and Development; Leadership, Administration and Instructional Support; and Infrastructure for Technology, with the sole purpose of helping to identify areas of urgent need.

TeachNet (EDTC 6525)

Project Description: With the increasing demand of technology implementation related to education and curriculum development, Simon Rivera High School recognizes the need to implement a new lab. The TEACHNET project is a grant that will allow teachers to integrate technology into their instruction on a consistent basis and will provide equitable access to technology, so our students can become lifelong learners. Academically, the TEACHNET project will provide services daily, during and after school. This project will also update the BISD Long Range Technology plan and conform with the new mandates of the state technology implementation.

I Can Read (EDTC 6329)

Project Description: On-line education has grown significantly over the past decade through its implementation in many colleges and across the United States. Based on this fact and that every students learns in a variety of ways, it is important that educators reconsider their perspectives on the learning process, and in the implementation of variety tools, in order to prepare the learners with the skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century. In this course, we learn how, with the use of Flash  software and the Internet, we can create tools that make it possible to reach visual learners, auditory learners, and kinesthetic learners; thus, providing individualized and differentiated instruction.

Dear Dairy (6320)

Project Description: Through this course, I was able to recognize and implement technologies to meet learner's needs. In this piece, Digital Storytelling is used to promote the exploration of meaning through their own experiences, and  to promote the development or real , relevant and life-long learning. In addition, Digital Storytelling develops 21st century skills by extracting a narrative and then strengthened with music, voice (an author's or actor's), images and video.

Opening Doors of Opportunities through Assitive Technology (EDTC 6341)

Project Description: This paper presents an example of a quantitative method approach to identify critical issues in the instructional design and development process. In this article, I focused on the implementation of advanced technologies for special needs students. More specifically, Assistive Technology, in the field of education, has served as a platform for special education children to become productive members of society by enhancing their abilities; therefore, making it possible for them to influence their surroundings.
